What is Good for Toothache?

Toothache is one of the difficult pains we experience from time to time. These pains, which occur as a result of disorders in the structure of the tooth, are felt in the jaw and face and are a severe pain that disturbs people quite a lot. If you delay in seeing a dentist, it can cause serious pain and problems in the future.

What are the Causes of Toothache?

There can be many reasons for toothache. If the tooth occurs as a result of consuming cold drinks or sweet foods; it may be due to problems such as decay, filling problems, receding gums or cracked teeth. If it occurs due to hot factors; infected teeth or cavities that are very close to the tooth nerve may cause pain.   Symptoms of toothache are headache or fever, bad pain in the mouth. odor, swelling around the tooth.

We can list the general causes of toothache as follows:

  • Tooth decay.
  • Tooth inflammation caused by a bacterial infection,
  • A tooth crack or broken tooth,
  • A deterioration in the tooth filling,
  • Tooth wear caused by constant movements such as clenching or grinding the teeth,
  • Gum infection,
  • Removal of wisdom teeth

In order to properly treat the cause of toothache, it is recommended that you visit a dentist as soon as possible and receive treatment. In emergency situations where you cannot go to the dentist, you can relieve your toothache and provide temporary relief with some solutions that you can apply at home.

  •  Brushing your teeth: If you have cavities on your teeth and the food crumbs you eat cause pain in your teeth, you should brush your teeth first. This method will remove the crumbs that cause pain in your tooth and will help reduce toothache.
  • Cold compress:   Apply a cold compress to the  outside  of your cheek. Applying a cold compress to the area will temporarily relieve your pain.

You can get rid of your toothache for a while with these home remedies, but you should remember that all of these are only temporary solutions and only work in some cases. You should definitely see a dentist without wasting time. If the pain gets worse, this is an indication of inflammation and in such cases, antibiotic treatment should be applied to the dentist.  If there are signs of tooth infection;  such as fever, facial swelling or a constant pain in your tooth  and if you cannot see your dentist, you can go to the emergency room for treatment.
